I wanted to play with the new Brusho Crystal Colour in the Occasions Catalog, so I used some different techniques for adding the colors to pieces of Watercolor Paper. I then stamped the Stylized Birthday sentiment on each one in a coordinating color and added them to cards along with some of the Tutti-Frutti Suite products to make some bright and cheery birthday cards.
I added drops of water from my Aqua Painter to the Watercolor Paper and then sprinkled on the yellow Brusho Crystal Colour and let it run a bit. Then, I spritzed it with some water out of an old Stampin' Mist bottle and added some more yellow Brusho Crystal Colour and let it run some more.

Here are a few tips for working with the Brusho Crystal Colour:
- Do NOT open the lids on the containers. The powder is extremely fine and will go everywhere if you do.
- Use a push pin, thumbtack, needle, or Paper-Piercing Tool to poke two or three holes in the lids instead. Wipe the tip of the poker with a tissue between colors to prevent spreading color from one container to another.
- You may need to sharply tap the bottom of the container to get the powder to come out at first as they are very full of powder. Once some powder has come out, it should be easier to shake out more powder.
- Watercolor Paper is really the best paper to use when working with Brusho. It absorbs the water the best and allows the color to spread easily without too much warping of the paper.
- Keep paper towels or tissues handy to dab off excess water and/or to protect your work surface.
- Make sure the paper is completely dry before stamping on it or your ink may run. You can speed up the drying of the paper by using a Heat Tool.
- Use lots of strong adhesive along the edges of the Watercolor Paper to adhere it to your project and keep the edges from curling up.
- Store the containers of Brusho in the box they came in to prevent them from tipping over. Put a piece of tape or washi tape across the holes to help keep powder from escaping and to help keep it dry.
- Be aware that the powder can stain clothing, carpeting, etc. and be careful when using it and protect your work area.
- There really is no right or wrong look with Brusho. Every project will look different depending on the technique you use for adding water, how much powder you use, etc. Just experiment and have fun!
