My upline Jan is holding a big Team Meeting in Pennsylvania today and I'm going. A few weeks ago, she asked me if I'd put together a display of different ways to use the Stocking Builder Punch in the Holiday Mini. I agreed and have had a blast creating unique ways to use this cool punch. There really are tons of ways to use it besides making a regular stocking!
Some of these ideas are original to me (as far as I know!) and others are ideas that other people came up with and I adapted. Enjoy!
Make a sock puppet by using the punched out heel as an ear and adding a brad for an eye.

Cut the bottoms off a couple of stockings to make them flat and you've got rain boots. Make an umbrella handle by punching a scrap of cardstock and then sliding the punch over just a bit and punching again and then trimming off excess.
Uses Curvy Verses Set plus Real Red Card Stock, Tempting Turquoise Card Stock, Early Espresso Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad, Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, SNAIL Adhesive, Crystal Effects, Sticky Strip, Craft Scissors, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Stocking Builder Punch, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Multipurpose Platform, Standard Cutting Pads, and Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
Use a couple of punched heel pieces as ears and add some frayed ribbon for a mane and you've got a horse!

Here's the same card with the "stable doors" shut:
Use thin pieces made by punching the stocking and then sliding the punch over just a tiny bit and punching again and trimming off excess and then add toe pieces to make music notes.
Uses Happiest Birthday Wishes Hostess Clear-Mount Set plus Basic Black Card Stock, Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad, Shimmery White Card Stock, Silver Glimmer Paper, Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, Clear-Mount Block G, SNAIL Adhesive, Sticky Strip, 2-Way Glue Pen, Grid Paper (to help me get the music score lines evenly spaced and straight), and Stocking Builder Punch.
Make a witch's boot by punching out a stocking. Adhere a thin strip of paper to the back of the stocking as a handle and slide the stocking into the punch. Punch again to make the stocking narrower. Cut the stocking flat across the bottom. Then, use the 1" Square Punch to punch an angle in the bottom leaving a sharp heel. Punch a scrap of card stock with the Small Oval Punch and then punch the oval again with the punch to leave a pointy toe. Adhere the pointy toe behind the stocking. I like to texturize mine with an Embossing Folder so that the seams are hidden. Voila, a witch's boot! If you use different colors, round the toes off a little, and leave off the cuff, these would also make great cowboy boots. Or, leave the toes pointy, use a pointy strip punched with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch for a cuff, and use different colors for elf boots.
Uses Wicked Cool Clear-Mount Set plus Lucky Limeade Card Stock, Perfect Plum Card Stock, Riding Hood Red Card Stock, Basic Black Card Stock, Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad, Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, Clear-Mount Block B, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, 2-Way Glue Pen, Crop-A-Dile, Paper Snips, Craft Scissors, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Small Oval Punch, Stocking Builder Punch, 1" Square Punch, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Multipurpose Platform, Standard Cutting Pads, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and Lots of Tags Sizzlits Die Set.
You can easily make a soccer (or football or golf) cleat with the Stocking Builder Punch. Just punch out a stocking and then use the Small Oval Punch to punch off most of the leg portion. Use the Pinking Hearts Border Punch to punch a small strip of card stock and adhere it behind the shoe so just the pointy tips show. Add a leg in a sock by punching out a stocking. Adhere a thin strip of paper to the back of the stocking as a handle and slide the stocking into the punch. Punch again to make the stocking narrower. Adhere thin strips of card stock to the top of the stocking and trim off the excess. Adhere behind the shoe. Add a sort-of-Nike-swoosh by punching a scrap of card stock with the Word Window Punch. Then, slide the card stock up and over just a bit and punch again.
Uses Goal Set plus Tangerine Tango Card Stock, Bashful Blue Card Stock, Garden Green Card Stock, Basic Black Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad, Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad, Brushed Silver Card Stock, White Baker's Twine, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals. 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper Snips, Craft Scissors, Word Window Punch, Pinking Hearts Border Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, and Stocking Builder Punch.
Add some branches from the Snowflake Punch as antlers and a brad for a nose and a couple of heel punch outs for ears and you've got a reindeer. The cuff piece makes a great collar.
Uses Heard from the Heart Set plus Real Red Card Stock, Early Espresso Card Stock, Soft Suede Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Real Red Stampin' Write Marker, Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker, Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, Red Glimmer Paper, Mini Jingle Bells, Neutrals Brads, Brights Glimmer Brads, Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder, Powder Pals, Heat Tool, VersaMarker, SNAIL Adhesive, 2-Way Glue Pen, Mini Glue Dots, Paper-Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Paper Snips, Snowflake Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, and Stocking Builder Punch.

Cut the stockings down further and add a bit of punched card stock to the top for baby booties. I punched a strip of white card stock with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and then punched the strip into smaller pieces using the cuff portion of the Stocking Builder Punch.

Punch a stocking from a scrap of card stock and then move the punch over a bit and punch again. Trim off excess and decorate the handle with a couple of thin strips of card stock. Now you've got a hockey stick! Add a hockey puck by cutting a thin strip of card stock. Punch one end with one end of the Word Window Punch. Turn the card stock around and insert it in the punch again so you can punch the other end.
Uses Lovely as a Tree Set plus Bashful Blue Card Stock, Always Artichoke Card Stock, Basic Black Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Bashful Blue Classic Stampin' Pad, Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad, Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter, Powder Pals, Dazzling Details, Stamping Sponges, SNAIL Adhesive, Crystal Effects, 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper Snips, Word Window Punch, and Stocking Builder Punch.
Make a hobby horse by making the horse's head again, but this time add some loops of Baker's Twine as a mane, some 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon for reins, and a thin strip of card stock as a stick.
Uses Oval All Set and Stitched Stockings Set plus Cajun Craze Card Stock, Not Quite Navy Card Stock, Sahara Sand Card Stock, Soft Suede Card Stock, Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad, Not Quite Navy Classic Stampin' Pad, Well Worn Designer Series Paper, Early Espresso/White Baker's Twine, Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Vintage Trinkets, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper-Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Paper Snips, Craft Scissors, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, and Stocking Builder Punch.

Add a small circle as a wheel and a handle made by punching a scrap of card stock with the Small Oval Punch and then sliding the punch up a bit and stamping again. Punch some thin strips from scraps of card stock using the Stocking Builder Punch by punching and then sliding the punch over a bit and punching again. Add toe pieces punched out with the Stocking Builder Punch to make golf clubs to stick up out of the bag.
Uses Pennant Parade Clear-Mount Set and On Your Birthday Set plus Wild Wasabi Card Stock, Bashful Blue Card Stock, Garden Green Card Stock, Sahara Sand Card Stock, Chocolate Chip Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, More Mustard Classic Stampin' Pad, Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad, Whisper White Craft Stampin' Pad, Brushed Silver Card Stock, On Board Merry Medley (used as a template to sponge on the clouds), Sponge Daubers, Clear-Mount Block A, Clear-Mount Block B, SNAIL Adhesive, 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper Snips, Small Oval Punch, Owl Builder Punch (for golf ball and bag wheel and hole), Petite Pennants Builder Punch, and Stocking Builder Punch.

As soon as I showed my husband the vulture card above, he said, "You could also make a flamingo that way." So, of course, I had to! Same technique, just done in pink. The thin strips also work as flamingo legs.

Create a cast by punching out a stocking and trimming off the toe and top. I like to texturize mine with an Embossing Folder. Adhere it to another lighter stocking punch out that hasn't been cut down quite as far. Put the cast on a foot by punching out a stocking and then adhering a thin strip of card stock to the back of the punched out piece to use as a handle. Insert the punched out piece back into the punch and punch again to make it thinner.

Cut the bottoms of a couple of stockings flat to make monster feet and then have fun making a monster to top them off! I layered a heel punch out on top of a toe punch out to make the lips for my monster. My husband said I should have made the monster purple and added stubby wings so it could be the Flying Purple People Eater.
Uses Smarty Pants Set plus Tangerine Tango Card Stock, Real Red Card Stock, Tempting Turquoise Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write Marker, Real Red Stampin' Write Marker, Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Brights Brads, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, 2-Way Glue Pen, Designer Sanding Blocks (used on the monster body after texturizing it with the Embossing Folder so it is fuzzy and soft), Paper-Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Crop-A-Dile, Paper Snips, Craft Scissors, Modern Label Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Stocking Builder Punch, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Multipurpose Platform, Standard Cutting Pads, Extended Cutting Pads, Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Magnetic Movers & Shapers Curly Label Die, and Movers & Shapers Punch Windows.

Punch out some stockings and heels and toes in your favorite baseball team's colors. Then, use the circle punch in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to notch the top edges. Draw on elastic ribbing and a team logo with a marker and you've got athletic socks. Our local team isn't doing so well lately, hence the sentiment. Maybe your favorite team is doing better!

Punch a bunch of heel pieces with the Stocking Builder Punch. Then, punch some more from a green card stock and cut them in half. Glue the halves to the ends of the other heel pieces to make Christmas lights. You can also use the cuff piece to make flat presents. Warning, I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch to punch pieces of Glimmer Paper for bows on the presents. I nearly killed my punch doing so though, so I don't really recommend you do it! The intricacy of the punch does not work well with the heaviness of the Glimmer Paper.
Uses Lovely as a Tree Set and Petite Pairs Clear-Mount Set plus Real Red Card Stock, Old Olive Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad, Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad, Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker, Red Glimmer Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper, Clear-Mount Block G, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper Snips, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, 1-1/4" Square Punch, and Stocking Builder Punch.

Finally, how about a pretty ballerina? I just used the Small Oval Punch to punch the legs off of the darker stocking shapes leaving a curved cut out. I used the long edge of the cuff portion of the punch to punch thin strips to adhere in a criss cross pattern to make the ties. The skirt is actually fluffy and floaty since I used pieces of white tissue paper cut with the Big Shot and Scallop Circle Bigz Die. You could also use light weight material if you preferred. The bodice is a piece of satin ribbon adhered in a loop.
Uses Perfect Words Hostess Clear-Mount Set plus Pretty in Pink Card Stock, Pink Pirouette Card Stock, Pink Pirouette Textured Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Pretty in Pink Classic Stampin' Pad, Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Basic Pearls Jewels, Clear-Mount Block G, SNAIL Adhesive, Sticky Strip, 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper Snips, Small Oval Punch, Stocking Builder Punch, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Standard Cutting Pads, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, and tissue paper.
Of course, you can always use the Stocking Builder Punch to make a plain stocking! Either just by punching out some Designer Paper or card stock or with the coordinating Stitched Stockings Set or Gift Givers Set.
I hope you have enjoyed the various ways I have shown to use this versatile punch. Please check back over the next few days for some variations on the cards shown above that my Club Members will be making in Club Class this month.
