All Sewn Up Samples

My upline recently held one of her big Team Meetings.  I was unable to attend since my son had just returned home from Greece and I wanted to visit with him and see his pictures.  My upline was trying a new option though where those who couldn't attend could buy the consumable supplies from her to make the samples on our own following directions she also sent us.  The supplies did not include any stamped images as that is against Stampin' Up! policies. 

I bought the supplies from my upline, but unfortunately, I was only able to make 4 of the samples the way she had designed them because I don't own the stamp sets she used to make the other samples.  I do NOT sew, so I didn't really want the Sew Suite and Pattern Pieces Sets.  Rather than wasting the supplies though, I adapted them for use with sets I do own!  Here's what I came up with:

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Peach Parfait Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4".

2)  Stamp the butterfly image three times in Peach Parfait Ink in the upper right corner.  Remember to reink the stamp each time.

3)  Cut five strips of Whisper White Card Stock 1 1/2 x 6 1/2" long.

4)  Cut the white strips using the Tasteful Trim Die and Big Shot.  Place the strips on the scalloped edge border at the top of the die.  The sandwich you need to build is one of the Extended Cutting Pads, Die, card stock strips, and the other Extended Cutting Pad.

5)  Adhere one strip of scalloped edge white card stock to the bottom of the peach rectangle.  Trim off excess.

6)  Punch five circles from a scrap of Pear Pizzazz Card Stock using the 3/4" Circle Punch.

7)  Adhere the pear circles to the white scallop edge piece so the circles are centered in each scallop.  Trim off excess.

8)  Adhere the next strip of scalloped edge white card stock so the scallops are offset from the previous strip.  Trim off excess.

9)  Punch six circles from a scrap of Peach Parfait Card Stock and adhere them to the strip.  Trim off excess.

10)  Adhere the next strip of scalloped edge white card stock so the scallops are offset from the previous strip.  Trim off excess.

11)  Punch five circles from a scrap of Not Quite Navy Card Stock and adhere them to the strip.  Trim off excess.

12)  Repeat with the last two strips using Pear Pizzazz circles and then Peach Parfait circles.

13)  Cut a strip of Pear Pizzazz Card Stock to 7/8 x 4".

14)  Cut a strip of Whisper White Card Stock to 3/4 x 4".

15)  Stamp sentiment in Not Quite Navy Ink in the center of the white strip.

16)  Adhere the stamped white strip to the pear strip.

17)  Adhere the strips to the peach rectangle along the top of the last row of scallops.

18)  Place the peach rectangle in the Color Catcher and spritz thoroughly with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.

19)  Use the paper-piercing template, other Mat Pack pieces, and Paper-Piercing Tool to poke evenly spaced and lined up holes in either end of the white sentiment strip.

20)  Insert Peach Parfait In Color Glimmer Brads in the holes and secure the prongs on the back side.

21)  Cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make card.

22)  Adhere the card front to the card.

Tips

You can cut more than one piece of Whisper White Card Stock at at time using the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die.

You want the scalloped edge trim pieces of white card stock to be longer than you need them to be so that you can easily adjust the positioning.

I found our Grid Paper (page 198, $9.95) to be very helpful when adhering the scalloped edge strips.  I lined my peach rectangle up on the Grid Paper and then made sure that I adhered the scalloped edge strips in a straight line across it by refering to the guidelines.

Use the Color Catcher when using Smooch Spritz to prevent the ink from going everywhere.

For best results with Smooch Spritz, roll the container on your work surface a few times before spritzing to mix up the ink without clogging the spray nozzle.

Use firm strokes when pressing the spray nozzle on the Smooch Spritz.

If you don't have a Big Shot and Tasteful Trim Die, you can get the same scallop result the way Shannon did.  Just punch out two sets of circles with one set being slightly larger than the other.  Layer the smaller circles on the larger circles.  Then, adhere the circles to make the scallop patterns.

Mother-of-Pearl Elements

This is another one of the cards we made at my Club Classes this month featuring watercoloring.  We used the "faux mother-of-pearl" technique I outlined in my Weekly Inspiration post on March 16 and colored the flowers using a Blender Pen and ink from the pad lids.

Washed Flowers

Here's another of the cards we made at my Club Classes this month featuring watercoloring techniques.  This one uses the "wash" technique.  Just heat emboss some line art images with large open spaces on a piece of card stock.  Then, wet the embossed card stock thoroughly by spraying it with water.  While it is wet, pick up some ink with an Aqua Painter and drop it onto the puddles of water and watch it spread!  Be careful to use ink colors that will blend well together.

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Confetti Cream Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4".

2)  Lay the Clear-Mount Block on your work surface so one of the 4 1/2" sides is on the bottom.

3)  Scribble on the block with the Markers.  Start with the lightest color (So Saffron) first near the bottom of the block.  Then add the other colors working up in intensity of color.  Let the colors overlap a bit and be sure to fill the whole block.

4)  Hold the block away from your work area and thoroughly spray the surface with water.  You want to get it pretty wet!

5)  Stamp the block directly onto the top of the Confetti Cream rectangle.  The colors will bleed and blend together.

6)  Remove the block and dab off excess water using a tissue or paper towel.  This will also help to blend the colors a bit more.  Set the piece aside to dry a bit.

7)  Cut a piece of So Saffron Card Stock to 2 3/4" x 4".

8)  Punch one long edge with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.

9)  Cut a piece of Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper to 2 1/4 x 4".

10)  Adhere the designer paper to the bottom of the punched saffron rectangle.

11)  Stamp the sentiment in Tangerine Tango Ink on a scrap of Confetti Cream Card Stock.

12)  Punch the sentiment out using the 1-3/4" x 7/8" Oval Punch.

13)  Punch a scallop oval from a scrap of So Saffron Card Stock using the Scallop Oval Punch.

14)  Layer the sentiment oval on the scalloped oval and then in the bottom right corner of the designer paper.

15)  Stamp the daisies image in More Mustard Ink on top of the watercolored Confetti Cream background.  It's okay if your card stock is still a little damp and the image blurs a little.

16)  Adhere the designer paper rectangle to the bottom of the watercolored, stamped Confetti Cream rectangle.

17)  Adhere a piece of Pumpkin Pie 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon so it covers the seam between the designer paper and So Saffron card stock.  Tie a small piece of ribbon to the first piece and trim the ends.

18)  Cut a piece of Tangerine Tango Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make a card.

19)  Adhere the card front to the card.

Tips

I recommend using a heavier weight of card stock like Naturals White, Naturals Ivory, Confetti White, or Confetti Cream when doing this technique.  These heavier card stocks hold up better to getting really wet than Whisper White or Very Vanilla do.

The larger Clear-Mount Block F (page 192, $16.95) will also work for this card.  You only have to ink about 1/2 the block if you use it.

If you use a smaller block, you can get a nice frame image in the center of a piece of card stock without adding layers.

Be sure to use colors that will blend nicely together, not just get all muddy!
