Yesterday I was poking around looking for ideas using the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder in the Holiday Mini. I wanted to create a thank you card for a customer who recently purchased this folder from me. I found a cool card someone else had made that used the folder and one of our background stamps and what looked like an emboss resist technique of some kind. She didn't really say how she'd made the card though, so I started experimenting.
First, I tried a little emboss resist with dry embossing by heat embossing the snowflakes, sponging on ink, and then running the card stock through the Big Shot with the folder. I didn't feel like the dry embossed snowflakes done with the folder really showed up as much as I wanted them to though.
Uses Sincere Salutations Set and Serene Snowflakes Set plus Baja Breeze Card Stock, Not Quite Navy Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Not Quite Navy Classic Stampin' Pad, Baja Breeze Classic Stampin' Pad, VersaMark Pad, Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder, Powder Pals, Heat Tool, Sponge Daubers, Whisper White 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Multipurpose Platform, Standard Cutting Pads, Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and Sticky Strip.
Next, I tried ghosting and dry embossing by stamping the snowflakes with VersaMark and rubbing ink directly over the images before running the card stock through the Big Shot with the folder. No heat embossing required, so much faster! This was also more the look I'd been trying to achieve.

What do you think? Which look do you like best?
Both are pretty...but if we're voting, then I like the first one. I like the vertical lay out better, I guess...and the tiny bow is cute :)

Michele it's like asking us to pick between our favorite child! LOL You really are on a roll lately. The creative bug has really bit you. :0) I do like them both but if I had to pick just one I guess I would go with the holiday greetings. I love the sweet little bow at the top. Have a great week. I look forward to your next creation.
