You're getting a double feature today! I was poking around yesterday on other blogs looking for inspiration and found a great idea a Canadian Demo had posted. She called it "Colored Spritz Smooch." I took the idea and started playing. After creating my first background piece, I decided to use the ink left on the plastic to create a reverse image background rather than just wasting it. I ended up with two cool backgrounds which I turned into two cards, hence the double feature. I wish you could see these in person as the shimmer from the Smooch Spritz just doesn't scan too well. They really are fairly shimmery! Give the technique a try yourself and see what you think. Enjoy!

10) Lift the background stamp back off the page protector and stamp it on one of the Whisper White rectangles.

19) Adhere the sentiment so it is centered over the ribbon on the right side.

22) Cut a piece of Marina Mist Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2". Score and fold in half to make card.

Directions
1) Cut a piece of Baja Breeze Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2". Score and fold in half to make a card.
2) Cut a piece of Not Quite Navy Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4.
3) Adhere the background you created in step 11 above to the Not Quite Navy rectangle and then adhere them to the card front.
4) Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 2 3/8 x 4 1/8".
5) Ink up the bunch of flowers image from the Just Believe Set using the VersaMark Pad.
6) Stamp the image on the white rectangle so the bottom of the bunch goes off the card stock.
7) Lightly ink up a Sponge Dauber with Not Quite Navy Ink and sponge some very lightly all around the image.
8) Ink up a piece of Stamping Sponge with Baja Breeze Ink and rub it in a circular motion all over the white rectangle. Get more ink on the sponge as needed. The VersaMarked image should start to show up against the inked up card stock very lightly. This is a technique called ghosting.
9) Cut a piece of Not Quite Navy Card Stock to 2 1/2 x 4 1/4".
10) Mat the stamped and inked white rectangle to the Not Quite Navy rectangle.
11) Adhere a piece of Whisper White 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon to the bottom of the matted image about 3/4" from the bottom.
12) Adhere the matted image to the card front on the left side.
13) Ink up the sponge again with Baja Breeze Ink and sponge it lightly along the bottom edge of a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock.
14) Ink up the sentiment from the Just Believe Set with Baja Breeze Ink and stamp it on the scrap of white card stock so the sponged edge is about half way up the sentiment.
15) Cut the sentiment out so the piece is 1/2 x 2 3/4".
16) Slide the right end of the sentiment strip into the corner of the Square Punch and line it up so the point is in the center of the strip near the end of the words. Punch. You should have a "v" notch in the end of the sentiment strip.
17) Use the edge of the brush tip of the Not Quite Navy Marker to outline the edges of the sentiment strip.
18) Use your fingers to bend the sentiment strip a bit into a banner.
19) Adhere the left side of the sentiment strip to the card front so it is centered over the ribbon and about 1/2 way across the main image.
20) Adhere a large marbled Whisper White Neutrals Designer Button to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.
21) Cut a small piece of ribbon and tie it in a simple overhand knot.
22) Adhere it to the button with a Mini Glue Dot and trim ends.
Tips
When rolling a Brayer across an ink pad to ink it up, make sure to roll in one direction only. Roll and then pick up the Brayer when you reach the edge of the pad and put it back down on the other side before rolling again. If you just roll back and forth across the ink pad, you'll only ink up a small portion of the Brayer.
You can use any kind of plastic page protector including the nice ones we sell for scrapbook pages on page 180. I didn't want to risk messing up a good page protector though, so I just used a cheap one from an office supply store. You could also use a Window Sheet (sold on page 205).
You definitely want to use a Color Catcher when using Smooch Spritz or you will get shimmer all over everything!
Press firmly on the spray plunger on the Smooch Spritz.
Before using Smooch Spritz, you should mix up the ink by rolling the vial back and forth across your work surface. Don't shake the vial up and down as this can cause the nozzle to clog.
The easiest way to stamp with a background stamp is to place the stamp on your work surface with the inked side facing up. Then, place your card stock on top of the stamp. This will allow you to make sure you are getting the card stock centered on the image and straight. Place a piece of scratch paper on top of the card stock to protect your fingers from ink and rub firmly. Remove the scratch paper and lift off your stamped card stock.
After placing the second Whisper White rectangle on the inked up page protector, I placed a piece of scratch paper on top of it and rubbed firmly to transfer the ink to the card stock without getting ink all over my fingers.
After inking up both pieces of Whisper White Card Stock for backgrounds, I rinsed the page protector and Brayer under water in the sink and left them to air dry.
Yes, I really did use Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy inks to ink up the page protector. When the two colors lightly combined as on the first background image, they looked more Perfect Plum and Marina Mist which is why I used those colors for the card stock on the first card.
If you wish, you can hammer the brads flat after inserting them in the holder from the Hodgepodge Hardware. This will also help to hold the holder still so it doesn't slide around and cover part of your sentiment.
Cut only one set of butterflies at a time with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.
To protect your Embosslits Die, make sure the side labeled "Place this side down." is facing down. Also make sure the hinges are going through the Big Shot rollers one at time (are lined up with the long edge of the Multipurpose Platform).
Cut your Stamping Sponges into quarters before using them. They are easier to hold on to this way and you'll get more surfaces!
I rinse my Sponge Daubers and Stamping Sponges under water in the sink and then allow them to air dry.
