1) Cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2". Score and fold in half to make card.
2) Cut a piece of herringbone patterned paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper pack to 4 x 5 1/4".
3) Adhere the Designer Paper to the card front.
4) Cut a piece of Melon Mambo Card Stock to 3 3/4 x 5".
5) Punch all four corners of the melon rectangle with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch.
6) Stamp the scissors image in Melon Mambo Ink in all four corners with the blades pointing in.
7) Stamp the marker image in Melon Mambo Ink in the center of all four sides.
8) Stamp the wheel image in Melon Mambo Ink in the spaces between the scissor and marker images.
9) Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 5 x 5 1/2".
10) Build a sandwich of Standard Cutting Pad, Frame Oval Scallop Die, white card stock, and Standard Cutting Pad and run it through the Big Shot.
11) Save the cut out scallop oval frame for another project. Use only the center oval for this card.
12) Stamp the Tess image in Basic Brown Ink in the center of the white oval.
13) Stamp the Tess image again in Basic Brown Ink onto scraps of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper for her shirt and pants. Set the stamped Designer Paper aside for now.
14) Stamp the tote bag image in Basic Brown Ink onto another scrap of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper.
15) Stamp the sentiment in Basic Brown Ink in the center of the tote bag and set aside the stamped Designer Paper for now.
16) Stamp the rubber stamp image in Basic Brown Ink so it is resting on Tess' raised left hand.
17) Pick up ink from the pad lids using the Blender Pen and color Tess' hair, skin, shoes, and lips. Also color in the rubber stamp image. I used So Saffron Ink for Tess' hair, Blush Blossom Ink for Tess' skin, Creamy Caramel Ink for the wood block and shoes and to add some streaks to Tess' hair, and Melon Mambo Ink for her lips and the rubber stamp.
18) Carefully cut out Tess' shirt and pants that were stamped on the scraps of Designer Paper.
19) Use the 2-Way Glue Pen to carefully adhere the cut out shirt and pants on top of the image.
20) Carefully cut out the tote bag stamped on the Designer Paper and adhere it so it appears to be hanging from Tess' lowered right hand.
21) Use the Blender Pen and ink from the pad lids to touch up any areas that need it.
22) Use the Blender Pen and ink from the Sahara Sand pad lid to add some shadows below and behind Tess.
23) Adhere the stamped oval to the center of the punched and stamped Melon Mambo frame.
24) Adhere the framed image to the card front.
25) Stamp the sentiment in Basic Brown Ink onto a scrap of So Saffron Card Stock.
26) Punch out the sentiment with the Word Window Punch.
27) Punch out a Modern Label from a scrap of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock with the Modern Label Punch.
28) Adhere the sentiment punch out to the Modern Label and then to the card front at the bottom.
When punching corners with the new Corner Punches, it is easier to see where you are punching if you hold the punch upside down. Be careful when inserting the card stock into the punch to line the edges up with the edges of the punch. There is a lip to guide you, but it is easy to slide the card stock over the lip without noticing it.
The Frame, Oval Scallop Die has the cutting edges at an angle to the die, so be sure the material you are cutting covers all the cutting edges.
You can use a Stamp-a-ma-jig (page 191, $11.95) to help you precisely stamp the rubber stamp image on Tess' hand if you wish. I just eye-ball it though!
To get a good pool of ink in the pad lid, squeeze the lid into the pad before opening. Then, just stroke the tip of the Blender Pen across the pooled ink to pick up some color.
Remember to stroke in one direction only across the paper when watercoloring with Blender Pens. Otherwise, the card stock can begin to pill and tear.
Remember to clean your Blender Pen tip before switching colors by scribbling on a scratch piece of paper until no color is coming off the tip.
Paper piecing is a good way to use scraps of Designer Paper and add some fun patterns to stamped images.
Adding shadows to your stamped images is a good way to add depth and make your stamped artwork look more professional. Imagine a light source hitting your stamped image from one angle and add shadows where they would normally fall. Use a light color of ink and a light touch!
