Holiday Stamp Camp Follow-Up

We had fun at my Holiday Stamp Camp yesterday!  Everyone was able to choose which of the 6 available projects they wanted to make and they were able to make up to 3 of each if they wanted.  Here are the projects they got to choose from:

One Layout and Color Scheme Ideas

Each month I offer my Team Members a monthly incentive.  If they sell a set amount of product the month before, then I send them a "Class in the Mail" Kit they can use at an upcoming workshop or class.  They get all the consumable supplies they need to make 8 cards plus several samples so they can use the Sets they have available.

I thought I'd share this month's kit samples with everyone so you can see how easy it is to take one layout and color scheme and create a whole bunch of different cards just by varying the stamp set used and a few different punches.  Enjoy!

Weekly Inspiration

I like to treat my Stampin' 6 and Stampin' 12 Club Members.  So, one of the things I do is give the Hostess for each Club each month a little something extra.  The first person from each Club to get their order to me each month also receives the extra treat.

This week's project is the extra gift that my Club Hostesses and first to order during August are receiving.  These would make a great gift for someone or an easy way to organize yourself.  You get three gusseted envelopes in each package so you can use one to hold coupons, another to hold bills, and a third to hold receipts!  Enjoy!

Directions

1)  Cut 2 pieces each of Sahara Sand, Rose Red, and Bermuda Bay Card Stock to 4 1/2 x 9 1/2" for dividers. 

2)  Use the Round Tab Punch on scraps of card stock to punch 2 each of Sahara Sand, Rose Red, and Bermuda Bay tabs.

3)  Fold the tabs in half and adhere them to the tops of the same color dividers so they are evenly spaced.

4)  Insert the dividers in the envelope.

5)  Use a scrap of card stock in a contrasting color to the envelope to cut a Flower Burst.  The "sandwich" to use is Multi-Purpose Platform open to tab 1, Standard Cutting Pad, Embosslit closed around a piece of scrap card stock, and Standard Cutting Pad.

6)  Use the Crop-A-Dile to punch three holes that overlap in the center of the Flower Burst.

7)  Insert a Very Vanilla Basic Small Grommet into the card stock so that it surrounds the holes made with the Crop-A-Dile.

8)  Use the Bone Folder to carefully bend the prongs of the grommet flat so they point away from the center hole.

9)  Use scissors or fingernails to remove excess card stock from the center hole.

10)  Put some adhesive on the back of the Flower Burst and then thread the elastic closure cord from the envelope through the center hole.  Adhere the Flower Burst to the envelope flap so the grommet surrounds the eyelet on the envelope.

11)  Close the envelope by stretching the elastic closure cord around the envelope.

12)  Use the Go Go Boots Alphabets Sizzlits to cut out the letters needed to spell a title for your envelope with contrasting card stock scraps.  The "sandwich" to use is Multi-Purpose Platform open to tab 1, Standard Cutting Pad, Sizzlit Die with card stock on top, and Standard Cutting Pad.

13)  Adhere the letters for the title to the envelope front using the 2-Way Glue Pen.

Tips

I recommend buying the 12 x 12" Card Stock when you can for this project as you'll get more dividers out of a single sheet of card stock that way and will have less waste.

Cracking and popping noises are normal when using a Big Shot.  Your "sandwich" should not have to be forced through though.  If you are forcing it, your "sandwich" is too thick and needs to be adjusted.

You can cut more than one letter at a time using the Go Go Boots Alphabet Sizzlits.  Simply arrange multiple Sizzlits Dies in the sandwich so they are evenly spaced.

Stampin' Up! in the News

Weekly Inspiration

I'm sorry that I haven't posted much lately and that this is so late this week!  Things have been hectic since we got home from vacation.  In addition to trying to get caught up on everything that piled up while we were gone, we've had lots of extra stuff happening!  Dave had oral surgery.  I had to run an Eagle Scout Board of Review for a Scout before he headed off to college in Colorado.  I had an In-Home Workshop for Michelle H.  I had an all-day stamping event at my upline's house.  I had my Stampin' 6 and Stampin' 12 Club Classes.  We had to move Brett back into his dorm so he could start his RA (Resident Assistant) training.  And, I've had a slight summer cold the whole time!  We're heading out again tomorrow for a couple of days to visit St. Mary's College of Maryland with Sean to see if he wants to go to school there.  Anyway, I hope you are enjoying the last days of summer!

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make card.

2)  Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 2 1/2 x 4".

3)  Randomly stamp the bubble circles image from the Circle Circus Set all over the white rectangle using Taken with Teal Ink.  Remember to re-ink each time.  Let the bubbles overlap a bit.

4)  Use an Aqua Painter to pick up some color from the bottom of the Tempting Turquoise Watercolor Wonder Crayon and randomly color in some of the bubbles.  Get more color on the Aqua Painter as needed by rubbing the bristles across the bottom of the crayon.  Clean the Aqua Painter when done.

5)  Use the Aqua Painter to pick up some color from the bottom of the Gable Green Watercolor Wonder Crayon and randomly color in some more bubbles.  Get more color on the Aqua Painter as needed by rubbing the bristles across the bottom of the crayon.  Clean the Aqua Painter when done.

6)  Swipe a clean Aqua Painter across the entire stamped white rectangle to blend the colors together a bit.  Set the white rectangle aside to dry.

7)  Cut a piece of Taken with Teal Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4".

8)  Stamp sentiment of choice from Teeny Tiny Wishes Set in Bermuda Bay Ink onto a scrap of Green Galore Card Stock.

9)  Punch the sentiment out using the Modern Label Punch.  Make sure the sentiment is aligned to the right side.

10)  Punch a scrap of Bermuda Bay Card Stock with the Modern Label Punch.

11)  Adhere the sentiment modern label piece to the Bermuda Bay modern label piece so that just a bit of the Bermuda Bay label sticks out on the right side.

12)  Adhere the modern labels to the top left side of the Taken with Teal rectangle so the left side of the labels hangs off the edge.  Trim off the excess labels.

13)  Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack to make a small hole in the right side of the labels.

14)  Insert a Tempting Turquoise Brad from the Bold Brights Brads and secure on the back of the card stock.

15)  Adhere the stamped, watercolored bubbles to the bottom of the Taken with Teal rectangle.

16)  Adhere a piece of Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Ribbon to the card front to hide the seam between the white and teal card stocks.

17)  Adhere the card front to the card.

18)  Color directly onto the rubber of the whale image from the Animal Stories Set with the Taken with Teal Watercolor Wonder Crayon.  Press fairly hard so that you get lots of color on the rubber.

19)  Use a clean Aqua Painter to get a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock wet.  You want it to be fairly damp, but not soaked.

20)  Press the colored whale image firmly to the wet white card stock and hold for a few seconds.  Allow the image to dry for a few minutes.

21)  Use the Round Tab Punch to punch two tabs from a scrap of Bermuda Bay Card Stock.

22)  Adhere the two tabs together across each other so they form a circle.

23)  Punch out the whale image using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.

24)  Adhere the whale image to the circle made from the Round Tab Punches.

25)  Adhere the matted whale image to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Tips

If you pick up the color from the flat bottom of the Watercolor Wonder Crayons when using a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter, then you won't mess up the tips of your crayons.

Clean the bristles of the Aqua Painter by swiping across a piece of scratch paper until no more color is coming off.

Weekly Inspiration

Well, I'm home from vacation!  We had a marvelous time on the cruise, in Bermuda, and at Hershey Park after we got back to the states.  Bermuda was lovely as always and we had fantastic weather.  Guess what, Brett and I actually did see a little octupus while snorkeling in Tobacco Bay.  It was awesome!

Anyway, I'm trying to get caught back up which is always the worst thing about going on a vacation.  It's a bummer trying to get back into the normal routines.

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make card.

2)  Stamp the large flower outline image from the Flower Fancy Set in Bermuda Bay Ink onto a scrap of Confetti White Card Stock.

3)  Ink up the large flower solid image from Flower Fancy using Bermuda Bay Ink.  Stamp off onto scrap paper and then stamp inside the outline image on the Confetti White.

4)  Cut the flower image out along the outline edges.

5)  Cut a piece of Confetti White Card Stock to 3 1/4 x 5 1/2".

6)  Stamp the flower spray outline image from the Flower Fancy Set in Old Olive Ink twice onto the Confetti White rectangle.  Remember to re-ink each time.

7)  Use the Crushed Curry and Certainly Celery Markers brush tips to ink up the flower spray solid image from Flower Fancy.  Huff on the stamp to re-moisten the ink.  Stamp inside the outline images.  Remember to re-ink each time.

8)  Place your large cut out flower image on the stamped Confetti White rectangle so you get an idea of where you will eventually adhere it.

9)  Stamp the large leaves outline image from the Flower Fancy Set in Old Olive Ink on either side of where the large flower will be adhered.  Remember to re-ink each time.

10)  Stamp the large leaves solid image from Flower Fancy in Certainly Celery Ink inside the outline images.  Remember to re-ink each time.

11)  Randomly stamp the small flower outline image from the Flower Fancy Set in Pumpkin Pie Ink over the rest of the Confetti White rectangle.  Remember to re-ink each time.

12)  Ink up the small flower solid image from Flower Fancy in Pumpkin Pie Ink.  Stamp off onto scrap paper.  Then, stamp inside the outline images.  Remember to re-ink and stamp off each time.

13)  Stamp the small leaves outline image from the Flower Fancy Set in Old Olive Ink where needed to fill in space.  Remember to re-ink each time.

14)  Ink up the small leaves solid image from Flower Fancy in Certainly Celery Ink.  Stamp off onto scrap paper.  Then, stamp inside the outline images.  Remember to re-ink and stamp off each time.

15)  Cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock to 1 x 5 1/2".

16)  Adhere the stamped Confetti White rectangle to the Pumpkin Pie strip so about 3/4" of the Pumpkin Pie shows.

17)  Adhere a piece of Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon to the card stock layers to hide the seam.

18)  Stamp the sentiment from the Fundamental Phrases Set onto a scrap of Crushed Curry Card Stock with Pumpkin Pie Ink.

19)  Punch out the sentiment with the Modern Label Punch so the sentiment is aligned to the right side of the punched out piece.

20)  Punch a piece of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock with the Modern Label Punch.

21)  Adhere the Pumpkin Pie label behind the Crushed Curry sentiment label so only a small bit of the Pumpkin Pie label shows on the right side.

22)  Adhere the labels to the Confetti White rectangle so the left edge of the label sticks off the left side.  Trim off excess.

23)  Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack to poke a hole in the right side of the label.

24)  Insert an Old Olive Brad from the Earth Elements Brads and secure on the back side.

25)  Adhere the Confetti White/Pumpkin Pie rectangle to the card so about 1/4" of Bermuda Bay shows at the bottom.

26)  Adhere the cut out flower image to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

27)  Insert the prongs of an Old Olive Brad from the Earth Elements Brads into the holes of a large Pumpkin Button from the Sherbet Designer Buttons.  Secure the prongs on the back side of the button.

28)  Adhere the button to the center of the large flower using Mini Glue Dots.

Tips

Your outline and solid images do not have to line up perfectly!  This is supposed to look casual.  If you really want your images to line up perfectly though, you can use the Stamp-a-ma-jig sold on page 191 for $11.95.

When you "huff" on a stamp, the moisture in your breath is rewetting the ink so it will stamp properly.  Just be careful not to touch the ink with your lips or tonque.  Ink does NOT taste good!

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make card.

2)  Cut a piece of Melon Mambo Card Stock to 2 x 3 1/2".

3)  Wrap a piece of Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon around the bottom of the Melon Mambo rectangle so it is about 3/8" from the bottom and a couple of inches of ribbon stick off to the right side.

4)  Wrap the prongs of a small sunburst brad from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware around the ribbon ends about 1/2" away from the right side of the card stock edge.  Flatten the prongs as much as you can.

5)  Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 1 7/8" square.

6)  Stamp the umbrella drink image from the Cheers to You Set in Black StazOn Ink in the center of the white square.

7)  Use the Markers and Blender Pens to color the drink and add some shading.

8)  Cut a piece of Green Galore Card Stock to 2" square.

9)  Adhere the drink image to the green square.

10)  Adhere the left side of the matted drink image to the right side of the Melon Mambo rectangle above the ribbon.

11)  Adhere the image to the card front with Stampin' Dimensional.

12)  Put a Mini Glue Dot on the prongs of the brad to keep it securely fixed to the card.

13)  Trim the ends of the ribbon.

14)  Stamp the sentiment from the Cheers to You Set in Black StazOn Ink just below the ribbon and brad.

Tips

I like to use StazOn Ink when I watercolor because I know it won't bleed.

Scribble some ink from the Markers on to the lid of a stamp case and then pick up some color with the Blender Pen to color your stamped image.  Remember to make some areas darker or lighter than others.

When coloring with Blender Pens, always stroke in one direction only.  If you go back and forth with the tip of the pen, the card stock may pill and tear.

Clean your Blender Pen between colors by scribbling on a scratch sheet of paper until no more color is coming off.
