Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Certainly Celery Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make card.

2)  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4".

3)  Ink up the fleur-de-lis image with Bermuda Bay Ink.  Stamp off onto scrap paper.  Stamp onto Bermuda Bay rectangle at an angle so that the bottom of the image is in the center of the card about two inches up from the bottom.

4)  Ink up just the word "friend" on the sentiment with the Bermuda Bay Marker.  Stamp the word on the right side of the Bermuda Bay rectangle about one inch up from the bottom.

5)  Adhere a piece of Certainly Celery Ribbon to the Bermuda Bay rectangle so it is between the word and the fleur-de-lis image.

6)  Cut a small piece of Linen Thread and thread it through one hole in a white flower button from the Button Latte Designer Buttons.

7)  Thread the other end of the Linen Thread under the ribbon and then through the other hole in the button.  Tie tightly so the ribbon gathers a little.  Trim the ends of the Linen Thread.

8)  Adhere the Bermuda Bay rectangle to the card.

9)  Cut a piece of Confetti White Card Stock to 1 7/8" x 5".

10)  Use the Tag Corner Punch on the top two corners.

11)  Stamp the flower spray image in Certainly Celery Ink in the center of the tag about one inch up from the bottom.

12)  Squeeze the lid of the Bermuda Bay Classic Ink Pad into the pad and open.  You should have a little puddle of ink in the lid.  Use the Aqua Painter to pick up a little bit of ink from the lid and lightly paint the bottom edges of the leaves on the flower spray.  Use a fair amount of water so you get a very light blue color.  It's okay to go outside the lines, this is watercoloring!

13)  Pick up some Certainly Celery Ink with the Aqua Painter in the same way and paint the rest of the leaves and stems.

14)  Pick up some Melon Mambo Ink with the Aqua Painter in the same way and paint the flowers and buds.  Again, use lots of water so you get a light pink color in most places.  Put a small dab of more concentrated color in the center of the flowers and in the buds.

15)  Insert the Bermuda Bay Marker into the Color Spritzer Tool and spritz some color onto the tag.

16)  Tear about one inch off the bottom of the tag.

17)  Cut a thin piece of Certainly Celery Card Stock about 1/4" wide.

18)  Adhere the thin strip of celery card stock to the top of the tag and trim off excess.

19)  Cut a small piece of Linen Thread and thread it through the holes of a white flower button from the Button Latte Designer Buttons from the front of the button.

20)  Tightly tie the thread on the back side of the button and leave some tales of thread hanging.

21)  Adhere the button to the tag with a Mini Glue Dot so that the tales of the thread stick up.

22)  Adhere the tag to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Tips

Clean your Aqua Painter between colors by swiping it across a piece of scratch paper until you don't see any color coming off the bristles.

If your watercolored image is too wet, you can blot it dry with a clean paper towel or tissue.

If you get too much color some where, simply clean your Aqua Painter and then go over the area with the clean Aqua Painter to pick some of the color back up.

Experiment with the Color Spritzer Tool before adding color to your tag.  The closer you hold the tool to the project, the more concentrated and larger your spots will be.  The further away you hold the tool, the less concentrated and smaller your spots will be.

Open House Follow Up

Thank you to everyone who attended my New Catalog Open House yesterday.  I hope you all had fun!

I had some simple refreshments and lots of projects on display.  I also had retired merchandise for sale and offered those in attendance their chance to sell unwanted stamping and scrapbooking items.  Only Shannon Aydukovic took advantage of the chance to sell some of her old supplies and she did really well.  She got a $26 credit to spend with me on new goodies from the new catalog!

Everyone who attended also received a little goodie bag filled with some retired accessories like buttons, Fleurettes, Flower Fusion flowers, and Designer Hardware Eyelets.  The bag was topped with a Top Note and Thanks Embosslit.

I also had Door Prize Drawings.  Beverly Pugsley won a Patterns Pack II package of Designer Papers, Maria Flashman won a Lots of Thoughts Stamp Set, and Shannon Aydukovic won a Polka Dot Punches Stamp Set.

Diva Day Project

I got to go to my upline's house in Pennsylvania yesterday for a fun event she calls Diva Day.  This is a monthly incentive event for Demonstrators in her downline.  We earn the chance to go by meeting various sales or recruiting criteria the month before.  It's always lots of fun because we get to chat with other Demonstrators, share ideas, look at projects that the others have bought to share, and create projects that Jan has put together for us.  I love getting to stamp without having to create because some one else has already done the creating for me!

Here's one of the projects we did yesterday.  It features the Hola de nuevo Set which is the Spanish version of the Hello Again Set on page 114.  It looks just as cute in English and I'm sure would be darling in French too!  Enjoy!

Weekly Inspiration

Here's a really fun, fancy-fold card for this week's inspiration.  This idea was shared recently by a fellow Demonstrator named Jackie Topa as part of a contest for Demonstrators on the Demonstrator website.  I took her awesome idea and played with it.  I hope you'll enjoy the card!

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Orchid Opulence Card Stock to 4 1/4 x 11".

2)  Score at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".  Fold in half at the 5 1/2" score as if you were making a regular card.  Now, fold back in the other direction on the 2 3/4" score mark.

3)  Put a line of Dotto adhesive on the inside area of the card along the 5 1/2" score line.  This will help hold your card stock in place as you cut it with the Big Shot.

4)  Place the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Bigz Die on top of one of the Extended Cutting Pads.  Place the removable magnetic piece which cuts out a curly label shape in the center of the open area of the die.

5)  Open your card up, but leave the 2 3/4" flap folded back.  Lay the card onto the edge of the Curly Label Bigz Die so the 2 3/4" fold line is in the center of the removable magnetic piece.  See the picture below:

 

6)  Fold the 2 3/4" flap down flat.  Lay the other Extended Cutting Pad on top of the die and card stock so the edge of the cutting pad is lined up on the 2 3/4" score line.  See picture below:

 

7)  Run the die and cutting pads through the Big Shot Machine.  The machine will only cut where the Extended Cutting Pad is in place.  In fact, it probably won't crank the "sandwich" through any further!

8)  Remove the "sandwich" from the Big Shot Machine and take off the top Extended Cutting Pad.  Remove your card.  Rub the Dotto off with your fingers and close the card.  It should look something like this:

 

9)  Fold the 2 3/4" flap back the other direction so that your card looks like this:

 

10)  Now you are ready to finish your card!  Start by stamping the nuts and bolts image from the Lots of Bots Set randomly all over the 2 3/4" flap using VersaMark Ink.

11)  Stamp the sick robot in Basic Gray Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock.  Punch it out using the Curly Label Punch.

12)  Stamp the robot holding a bouquet in Basic Gray Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock.  Punch it out using the Curly Label Punch.

13)  Add some color to your robots as desired using the Markers.

14)  Adhere the sick robot to the center of the half cut curly label on your card so it will be on the front of the card when closed.

15)  Adhere the robot with flowers to the center of the half cut curly label on your card so it shows when the card is pulled open.

16)  Cut a piece of Old Olive dotted paper from the Cottage Wall Designer Paper Pack to 3 x 4".  Adhere it to the right edge of the inside of the card.

17)  Stamp the binary code from the Lots of Bots Set in Rich Razzleberry Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock.  Punch it out using the Modern Label Punch so that there is a little room to the right of the numbers.

18)  Stamp the get well sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Set in Rich Razzleberry Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock.  Punch it out using the Modern Label Punch so that there is room to the left side of the words.

19)  Place the Magnetic Movers & Shapers Punch Window in the modern label shape in the open area on the Curly Label Bigz Die.  Place the die on top of one of the Extended Cutting Pads.

20)  Place two scraps of Rich Razzleberry Card Stock on top of the modern label shape.  Put the other Extended Cutting Pad on top.

21)  Run the "sandwich" through the Big Shot.

22)  Open the "sandwich" up and remove the two Rich Razzleberry modern label card stock shapes.

21)  Adhere the binary code punch out to one of the Rich Razzleberry modern label shapes. 

22)  Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack to poke a hole in the right edge of the labels.  Insert a silver Jumbo Brad and secure.

23)  Adhere the binary code label to the top left edge of the card front on the 2 3/4" flap so it hangs off the edge to the left.  Cut off excess card stock.

24)  Adhere the get well sentiment to the other Rich Razzleberry modern label shape.

25)  Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack to poke a hole in the left edge of the labels.  Insert a silver Jumbo Brad and secure.

26)  Adhere the get well label to the bottom right edge of the inside of the card so it hangs off the edge to the right.  Cut off excess card stock.

Tips

You can cut the modern label punch shapes out of the Rich Razzleberry Card Stock using the Big Shot one at a time if you prefer, but it's faster to do them both at once.  Since you can do so, you may as well!

Remember that it is normal to hear cracking and popping sounds as you crank a "sandwich" through your Big Shot.  You shouldn't have to force a "sandwich" through though.  If you have to force it, your "sandwich" is probably too thick and you need to remove a layer.

 

Quick Brag

I have to take just a minute to brag about my younger son.  He got his AP exam scores in the mail today and he got a 5 (the highest score you can get) on all three of the exams he took this year - Biology, Statistics, and World History.  The World History score is particularly exciting because he didn't even take the AP World History Class, he took the Honors Class instead.  The teacher encouraged him to take the exam anyway because she said he'd do fine.  She was right!  I'm just really proud of my smart son.  He's a fine young man!

3)  Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack to poke 2 holes in the left side and insert two Silver Brads and secure.

4)  Adhere the Blush Blossom rectangle to the card front.

5)  Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 2 x 2 1/4".

6)  Stamp the leaf stem image from Lexicon of Leaves in Certainly Celery Ink at an angle onto the white rectangle.

7)  Sponge Bermuda Bay Ink lightly around the edges of the stamped white rectangle.

8)  Cut a piece of Melon Mambo Card Stock to 2 1/8 x 2 3/8".  Adhere it behind the white rectangle.

9)  Ink up sentiment of your choice from Teeny Tiny Wishes using Bermuda Bay Ink.  Stamp onto a scrap of Blush Blossom Card Stock.

10)  Punch out the sentiment using the Word Window Punch so that the sentiment is to the left.  Cut off the right edge of the punched out piece.

11)  Adhere the sentiment to the main image.

12)  Attach a silver Mini Library Clip to the right edge of the main image.

13)  Tie a small overhand knot bow from a piece of Certainly Celery Ribbon.  Adhere the bow to the Mini Libray Clip with a Mini Glue Dot.  Trim the ends of the ribbon.

14)  Adhere the main image to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Tips

Cut your Stamping Sponges into quarters.  This makes them easier to work with and gives you more sponges.

Clearly Thanks Goodies for My Downline

Silver Wishes Wedding Card

One of my customers just got married, so I made this card to send to her.

 

Card uses Oval All Set, Old Olive Card Stock, Certainly Celery Card Stock, scrap card stock, adhesive shipping label, aluminum foil, Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, Multi-Purpose Platform, Standard Cutting Pads, Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Old Olive Classic Ink Pad, Certainly Celery 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Circle Ice Rhinestone Brads, Paper-Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, and Stampin' Dimensionals.

This card uses a fun technique involving regular old aluminum foil from the kitchen and the Big Shot.  I learned this technique from a fellow Demonstrator, the very talented Becky Jensen.
