Directions
1) Cut a piece of Baja Breeze Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" using the Paper Cutter.
2) Score the card stock along the 8 1/2" side at 4 1/4" using the Scoring Blade on the Paper Cutter. Fold in half to make card.
3) Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4".
4) Stamp the sentiment from the Elementary Elegance Set in the lower right corner of the white rectangle using Baja Breeze Ink.
5) Cut a piece of multi-colored flower paper from the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper to 3 x 5 1/4".
6) Build a a sandwich of Multipurpose Platform with all tabs closed, one Standard Cutting Pad, the piece of Designer Paper with the side you want to use facing up, the bracket edge Edgelits Die with the cutting edge facing down lined up along one long edge of the paper, and the other Standard Cutting Pad. Run through the Big Shot.
7) Adhere the cut designer paper to the left side of the stamped white rectangle.
8) Slide the bracket edge embossing folder onto the card stock and line it up so it borders the cut edge of the designer paper.
9) Build a a sandwich of Multipurpose Platform with Tab 2 open, one Standard Cutting Pad, embossing folder with card stock inside as outlined in step 8, and the other Standard Cutting Pad. Run through the Big Shot.
10) Adhere the stamped and embossed white/designer paper rectangle to the front of the Baja Breeze card.
11) Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 3 1/2" square.
12) Stamp the large flower bunch image from the Bordering on Romance Set in Basic Gray Ink onto the white rectangle.
13) Use the Blender Pens and ink from the various pad lids to watercolor the image. See my tips below for some helpful hints.
14) Cut a piece of Baja Breeze Card Stock to 3 1/2" square.
15) Build a a sandwich of Multipurpose Platform with all tabs closed, one Standard Cutting Pad, the square of Baja Breeze card stock, the second smallest Labels Collection Framelits Die with the cutting edge facing down centered in the middle of the card stock square, and the other Standard Cutting Pad. Run through the Big Shot.
16) Pop out the cut out label and save it for some other project.
17) Build a a sandwich of Multipurpose Platform with all tabs closed, one Standard Cutting Pad, the square of Baja Breeze card stock with the label cut out of the middle, the third smallest Labels Collection Framelits Die with the cutting edge facing down centered over the cut out area, and the other Standard Cutting Pad. Run through the Big Shot.
18) Remove the labels frame you've cut out.
19) Cut a piece of Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to 3 1/2" square.
20) Peel off the protective backing and press the watercolored flower image onto the sticky surface face down.
21) Peel the watercolored image back off the square of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet. The front of the image should be all sticky. Try not to touch the sticky surface except on the very edges of the square.
22) Place the Baja Breeze frame from step 18 onto the sticky image so it frames the flowers.
23) Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over the image in the center of the frame.
24) Use the Paper Snips to trim off excess card stock outside the frame.
25) Press the frame and glitter firmly onto the sticky image. I use a plastic spoon and run the back of the spoon bowl firmly over everything.
26) Adhere the glittery framed image to the card front.
27) Use the Regal Rose Marker to color the back side of a second smallest Paper Daisy.
28) Flip the Paper Daisy over. The color should be showing through but a bit lighter.
29) Press the lighter side of the Paper Daisy onto a small scrap of the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet and then peel it back off. The lighter side should now be nice and sticky.
30) Sprinkle glitter on the sticky surface and press firmly into place.
31) Cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon about 4" long.
32) Fray one end of the ribbon and then grab one of the tiny threads running the length of the ribbon near the middle of the frayed edge. Gently pull the thread until it comes completely out of the ribbon. This will leave a thin, clear line running down the center of the length of ribbon.
33) Fold the ribbon in half and secure the folded end to the back side of the glittered Paper Daisy with a strip of Sticky Strip.
34) Use the Craft Scissors to trim the ends of the ribbon into rounded leaf shapes.
35) Remove the protective backing from the piece of Sticky Strip and adhere the glittered flower to the top right side of the framed image.
36) Adhere a Large Pearl Basic Jewel to the center of the flower.
Tips
I like to use Basic Gray Ink sometimes when I'm watercoloring, especially if I'm watercoloring a flower image. It's waterproof on Whisper White and Very Vanilla Card Stock just like the Basic Black Ink, but it is a little softer.
Squeeze the lid of the pad against the pad before opening. When you open it, don't slide the pad back into the lid, but leave it open. You should have a little puddle of ink on the inside of the lid. Use the Blender Pen to pick up ink from this puddle to watercolor.
If you don't have a little puddle of ink, your ink pad might be getting too dry. Consider buying some of our Classic Ink Refills to reink your pads!
You get 3 Blender Pens in a package and each pen has two brush tips, so they should last you for awhile. You can use any brush tip. Remember to clean the brush tip before using a different color. Just scribble with the brush tip on a piece of scratch paper until no more color comes off.
Remember to stroke across the paper with the tip of the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, the card stock could begin to tear and pill up.
I like to imagine a light source shining on my image from one direction when I'm watercoloring. The parts of the image getting hit directly by my imaginary light are going to be lighter in color. The opposite sides where the shadows would be are a bit darker and have more color on them.
I also like to add some very faint shadows around the outside edges of my images where the shadows would be using a light colored neutral, in this case the Basic Gray. This adds a little depth to the images.
I actually keep my Dazzling Diamonds Glitter in large Glad container. It makes it easy to sprinkle the glitter on with a spoon and the excess falls right back into the container. If you don't keep your glitter in a plastic container like this though, then you will want a set of Powder Pals. Just sprinkle stuff like glitter and embossing powder onto your card stock placed in the Powder Pal and then tap the excess back into the Powder Pal. You can then pour the excess back into the container easily.
As you pull the center thread out of your ribbon, the ribbon may pucker a bit. It will flatten back out when you've pulled the thread completely free. Sometimes the puckered ribbon looks cool though! If you want it to stay puckered, be careful not to pull the ribbon all the way out.
If pulling the thread out is too difficult (it can be tricky), you can skip this step and just trim the ribbon ends instead. Pulling the thread out just gives you that thin line that looks like the vein on a leaf.
Our Craft Scissors are truly the best for trimming ribbon!
