I know I haven't posted much lately. I spent a few days last week at my upline Janet Wakeland's house on an incentive trip I earned from her called RAD (Remarkable Achieving Demonstrators) Weekend. We had a blast! I'll post more about that trip and some samples soon.
Then, it was time to decorate the house and put up the Christmas trees (after running over one of the trees, but that is also another post!).
I also just got my pre-order of new items from the upcoming Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration. Wow! Y'all are going to love all the awesome new things coming your way!
Anyway, here is today's project. It's a cute, but super simple, little box that I learned to make during the recent RAD Weekend. It's the perfect size to hold a handmade ornament or fill it with candy or homemade goodies. Enjoy!

Directions:
1) Cut four squares of Real Red Card Stock each 5" square.
2) Make a sandwich of Standard Cutting Pad, Petal Card Bigz Die, one square of card stock, and Standard Cutting Pad and run the sandwich through the Big Shot.
3) Repeat Step 2 three more times so you have a total of 4 red petal cards.
4) Cut one flap off of each petal card so they all look like this:
5) Shake the bottle of Frost White Shimmer Paint well and pour a small amount of the paint onto a disposable surface (like a paper plate).
6) Pick up some Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber and apply the paint directly to the surface of the rubber on the image of three snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes Set.
7) Stamp the snowflakes randomly onto the petal cards. Stamp again a time or two without adding more Shimmer Paint. If you want to save time and Shimmer Paint, don't bother to stamp the flap opposite the one you cut off, it's going to be hidden anyway.
8) Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until the petal cards are completely stamped.
9) Use the 1 3/4" Circle Punch to punch a hole in the center square piece of one of the petal cards. It should look like this:
10) Take one of the petal cards and cut the flap opposite the one you cut off in a curve so that it will not show through the center hole you just punched in the previous step. Make sure you do leave some of the flap so you have something to adhere the petal cards together. This petal card should look like this:
11) Cut a 2 1/4" square of Snowfall Printed Window Sheet and adhere it behind the hole you punched in Step 9.
12) Use Sticky Strip along the flat edges where you cut off the flaps to adhere the petal cards together in a long row. Make sure the petal card with the hole punched in it is on one side and the petal card with the curved flap is on the other. It should look like this:
13) Use Sticky Strip along the flat edge of the piece with the hole punched in it to adhere it to the curved flap piece. You should have a square tube.
14) Fold the flaps on the bottom and top closed in a criss-cross pattern to complete your box.
15) Ink up letter of choice from Jayne's Type Alphabet with VersaMark Ink and stamp onto a scrap of Real Red Card Stock.
16) Sprinkle on White Embossing Powder and tap off excess.
17) Heat image until embossing powder is completely melted.
18) Get some more Frost White Shimmer Paint on the Sponge Dauber and add the paint directly to the rubber on the small single snowflake image from the Serene Snowflakes Set.
19) Stamp the snowflake over the embossed letter. Allow it to dry for a minute and then buff off excess shimmer paint with a clean tissue.
20) Use the 1 1/4" Circle Punch to punch out the letter.
21) Use the 1 3/8" Circle Punch to punch a circle from a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock.
22) Adhere the two circles together.
23) Adhere the circles to the bottom right corner of your box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
24) Fill your box with an ornament, treats, or small gift and re-close the flaps in a criss-cross pattern.
25) Tie a piece of Satin Ribbon around your box to keep it closed.
Tips:
It is best to cut the Petal Card pieces one at a time to make sure the score lines come out nicely.
Powder Pals are not required, but are highly recommended. They are great for helping contain embossing powders, glitter, and beads so they can easily be returned to their containers.
For some ideas on simple handmade ornaments you can make, please be sure to check my post titled "Blog Tour Christmas Ornaments." If you'd like directions for any of the ornaments, please just send me an e-mail with the subject line "Ornament Directions Request" and be sure to identify the ornament you want directions for using the name I gave it in my post.
I am making several of these to fill with a homemade treat and give as a small gift. That's why I used the "K" on this one. Each box will have the recipient's initial on it.
The finished box is a cube of about 2 1/2".
Here's the box I originally made during RAD Weekend:
It uses the same steps and many of the same supplies. I just used Brilliant Blue Card Stock for the box instead of Real Red. The bear and his hat are from the Cold & Cuddly Set on page 18 of the Holiday Mini. The bear is stamped onto Bashful Blue Card Stock with VersaMark Ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder. His hat is stamped with Brilliant Blue Ink onto Bashful Blue Card Stock.
