New Catalog Party Stamp Camp Follow-Up

We had lots of fun yesterday at my New Catalog Party Stamp Camp!  I had refreshments including my famous white-chocolate popcorn and lots of door prizes to give out.  The ladies bought much of my retired stuff, but I still have a bunch left!  I'll be posting it on my Retired Sets for Sale page when I return from the Stampin' Up! Convention at the beginning of August.  I also got some orders for new goodies.

Scrunchie Flowers

I'm up in York, PA today attending my upline's big Team Meeting.  Jan asked me to demonstrate two types of fun flowers using our punches at the meeting. 

The first flower I'm demonstrating is a "scrunchie flower."  It's called that because you scrunch the paper several times!  I got this awesome idea from another Demonstrator and used it on a 3-D item I made for my display using the Medium Jewelry Tag Punch back in February.  Jan liked my scrunchie flower then, so she asked me to demonstrate them at this meeting.

Here are the basic directions for a "scrunchie flower."  Enjoy!

1)    Punch out 11 Scallop Circles from coordinating pieces of Designer Series Paper.

2)   Crumple all 11 circles.  The more you crumple them, the more scrunched your flower will be.  Tip:  If you spray them lightly with water first, they can be a little easier to crumple.

3)   Set 1 crumpled circle aside to use as a base.

4)   Fold the other 10 circles in half.  They don’t have to be precisely folded in half, just roughly.

5)   Fold them in half again.  Again, you don’t have to be precise.  You should have 10 triangles.

6)   Put a Pop-Up Glue Dot in the center of the unfolded circle you are using as a base.

7)   Press the pointed tip of one triangle lightly into the Glue Dot. 

8)   Add a second triangle in the same way but make sure the open edges are facing the open edges of the first triangle.

9)   Add a third and fourth triangle in the same way making sure that the open edges are facing each other and closed edges are facing each other.

10)  Put another Pop-Up Glue Dot in the center.

11)  Adhere 4 more triangles in the same way as in steps 7 through 9 but have them  cover the seams made by the first layer.

12)  Put another Pop-Up Glue Dot in the center.

13)  Cut the pointed tips off the last two triangles and discard the tips.

14)  Press the flat edge you just made of one triangle into the top of the Glue Dot.

15)  Press the flat edge of the second triangle into the top of the Glue Dot so the open edge is facing the opposite direction.

16)  Scrunch the entire flower up in your fist repeatedly.

17)  Keep scrunching and gently pulling apart the folds until you get the look you want.

18)  Adhere your scrunchie flower to your project using Glue Dots or Stampin’ Dimensionals.

-  If desired, you can spritz your scrunchie flowers with a mix of Shimmer Paint and alcohol.

-  For a larger flower with a slightly different look, try using the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch instead.

- For a small flower, use the largest flower in the Boho Blossoms Punch.  Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere this one together instead of the Pop-Up Glue Dots.

Obviously these cards aren't mailable since the scrunchie flower is so big.  But, they are great for hand delivered cards or include them in a box with with other goodies.

One Layout and Color Scheme Ideas

Each month I offer my Team Members a monthly incentive.  If they sell a set amount of product the month before, then I send them a "Class in the Mail" Kit they can use at an upcoming workshop or class.  They get all the consumable supplies they need to make 8 cards plus several samples so they can use the Sets they have available.

I thought I'd share the September kit samples with everyone so you can see how easy it is to take one layout and color scheme and create a whole bunch of different cards just by varying the stamp set used and a few different accessories.  Enjoy!

Extra Treats for Club Class Attendees

I held my monthly Club Class for Stampin' 6 and Stampin' 12 Club Members yesterday on my birthday.  Everyone who attended got to enjoy chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate-covered oranges from an Edible Arrangement that my husband had ordered for me.  They also got some yummy brownies that Pat C. bought over!  Thanks, Pat!

In addition, they got to make 5 cards which I will be posting over the next few days that featured glitter, beads, and our awesome new Shimmer Paint.  I also gave everyone who came to the Class the extra treats shown here.  Enjoy!

Weekly Inspiration

I'm sorry that I haven't posted much lately and that this is so late this week!  Things have been hectic since we got home from vacation.  In addition to trying to get caught up on everything that piled up while we were gone, we've had lots of extra stuff happening!  Dave had oral surgery.  I had to run an Eagle Scout Board of Review for a Scout before he headed off to college in Colorado.  I had an In-Home Workshop for Michelle H.  I had an all-day stamping event at my upline's house.  I had my Stampin' 6 and Stampin' 12 Club Classes.  We had to move Brett back into his dorm so he could start his RA (Resident Assistant) training.  And, I've had a slight summer cold the whole time!  We're heading out again tomorrow for a couple of days to visit St. Mary's College of Maryland with Sean to see if he wants to go to school there.  Anyway, I hope you are enjoying the last days of summer!

Directions

1)  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2".  Score and fold in half to make card.

2)  Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 2 1/2 x 4".

3)  Randomly stamp the bubble circles image from the Circle Circus Set all over the white rectangle using Taken with Teal Ink.  Remember to re-ink each time.  Let the bubbles overlap a bit.

4)  Use an Aqua Painter to pick up some color from the bottom of the Tempting Turquoise Watercolor Wonder Crayon and randomly color in some of the bubbles.  Get more color on the Aqua Painter as needed by rubbing the bristles across the bottom of the crayon.  Clean the Aqua Painter when done.

5)  Use the Aqua Painter to pick up some color from the bottom of the Gable Green Watercolor Wonder Crayon and randomly color in some more bubbles.  Get more color on the Aqua Painter as needed by rubbing the bristles across the bottom of the crayon.  Clean the Aqua Painter when done.

6)  Swipe a clean Aqua Painter across the entire stamped white rectangle to blend the colors together a bit.  Set the white rectangle aside to dry.

7)  Cut a piece of Taken with Teal Card Stock to 4 x 5 1/4".

8)  Stamp sentiment of choice from Teeny Tiny Wishes Set in Bermuda Bay Ink onto a scrap of Green Galore Card Stock.

9)  Punch the sentiment out using the Modern Label Punch.  Make sure the sentiment is aligned to the right side.

10)  Punch a scrap of Bermuda Bay Card Stock with the Modern Label Punch.

11)  Adhere the sentiment modern label piece to the Bermuda Bay modern label piece so that just a bit of the Bermuda Bay label sticks out on the right side.

12)  Adhere the modern labels to the top left side of the Taken with Teal rectangle so the left side of the labels hangs off the edge.  Trim off the excess labels.

13)  Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack to make a small hole in the right side of the labels.

14)  Insert a Tempting Turquoise Brad from the Bold Brights Brads and secure on the back of the card stock.

15)  Adhere the stamped, watercolored bubbles to the bottom of the Taken with Teal rectangle.

16)  Adhere a piece of Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Ribbon to the card front to hide the seam between the white and teal card stocks.

17)  Adhere the card front to the card.

18)  Color directly onto the rubber of the whale image from the Animal Stories Set with the Taken with Teal Watercolor Wonder Crayon.  Press fairly hard so that you get lots of color on the rubber.

19)  Use a clean Aqua Painter to get a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock wet.  You want it to be fairly damp, but not soaked.

20)  Press the colored whale image firmly to the wet white card stock and hold for a few seconds.  Allow the image to dry for a few minutes.

21)  Use the Round Tab Punch to punch two tabs from a scrap of Bermuda Bay Card Stock.

22)  Adhere the two tabs together across each other so they form a circle.

23)  Punch out the whale image using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.

24)  Adhere the whale image to the circle made from the Round Tab Punches.

25)  Adhere the matted whale image to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Tips

If you pick up the color from the flat bottom of the Watercolor Wonder Crayons when using a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter, then you won't mess up the tips of your crayons.

Clean the bristles of the Aqua Painter by swiping across a piece of scratch paper until no more color is coming off.

Open House Follow Up

Thank you to everyone who attended my New Catalog Open House yesterday.  I hope you all had fun!

I had some simple refreshments and lots of projects on display.  I also had retired merchandise for sale and offered those in attendance their chance to sell unwanted stamping and scrapbooking items.  Only Shannon Aydukovic took advantage of the chance to sell some of her old supplies and she did really well.  She got a $26 credit to spend with me on new goodies from the new catalog!

Everyone who attended also received a little goodie bag filled with some retired accessories like buttons, Fleurettes, Flower Fusion flowers, and Designer Hardware Eyelets.  The bag was topped with a Top Note and Thanks Embosslit.

I also had Door Prize Drawings.  Beverly Pugsley won a Patterns Pack II package of Designer Papers, Maria Flashman won a Lots of Thoughts Stamp Set, and Shannon Aydukovic won a Polka Dot Punches Stamp Set.

Of course, everyone spent most of their time here making the projects that were available.  I had 9 different projects they could make and they could make up to 3 of each if they wanted.  Here's pictures of the "new" projects that were available:
